FoR Summer Party 2010

Saturday 3rd July 2010 at the Rowan Hill Marquee

Disco 2010 Saving our formal Ball event for next year's 75th Anniversary, Friend of Rowan finished the academic year with an informal Summer Party. For the first time, the school's Prize Giving marquee was used to host the event at Rowan Hill. Blessed with a beautiful summer's evening, over 100 parents enjoyed the hog roast supper and music from Rowan's very own DJ Mr Mach. The event was a great success and we hope to utilise the marquee for future events.

FoR Christmas Fair - 29th November 2008 - Rowan Hill

With the grown-up's shopping needs catered for at the new Shopping Night event, the Christmas Fair was just for the children this year. The Rowan Hill Hall was used for for two sell-out performances by Dave & Katie Corrie, who were a great success. The seasonal favourites, Santa's Grotto, the Chocolate Tombola and Cake Stall were as popular as ever. The "Sausage Sizzle" was a sell-out, thanks to the delicious sausages kindly provided by the Game Larder. Thanks also to TJ Beverages for donating freshly ground coffee and brewing machine for the coffee shop. Final figures TBA.

FoR Shopping Night - 13th November 2008 - Rowan Hill

This was a new event in the FoR Christmas programme. We decided to split the adult and kids elements of the Christmas Fair this year. The FoR Shopping Night was definitely intended for the grown ups! Attendees visited over 26 stalls featuring a wide variety of products & services, while enjoying a glass of bubbly and delicious canapés! We have received some great feedback from the event and that stall holders and parents for their kind words. It was a successfully evening (final figures TBA) and we will definitely run this event format again next year.

FoR Autumn Social - "A Night at Rowan Races" - 4th October 2008 - Rowan Hill

Our "race night" was great fun this year. With our professional compere and "on course" tote, the Hill Hall was full of race pundits eager for a night of action at the track! We enjoyed 8 video races, only stopping for a delicious fish-and-chip supper (with mushy peas of course!). The evening was a great success and we will post our fundraising total here shortly. Many thanks to the FoR team for their hard work preparing for this event.

The Minibus has arrived!

Friends of Rowan are delighted to announce that the school has now taken delivery of our first minibus. It will be on public display at the Prize Giving evening. This is by the far the largest single school acquisition financed by FoR and represents over 2 years of fundraising. I would like to thank all committee members, both current and past, for their hard word which has culminated in this amazing asset for the school.

FoR May Ball 2008 - 10th May 2008 - Burhill Golf Club

The May Ball was a wonderful event this year. The evening was warm and dry which allowed the reception bubbly to flow on the front lawn of Burhill Golf Club. After a fine dinner, our auction was held in the capable hands of Charlie Thomas from Bonhams (many thanks to him). We then retired downstairs to the fantastic 70's sounds of "Boogie Wonderland" and the blackjack/roulette casino. FoR hopes that everyone had a great time!

Preliminary figures show we raised an amazing £14,000+ which includes £1910 for the Princess Alice Hospice.

Photos of the event can be found in the Photo Gallery.

How well did you do on the 70's quiz? Click here for the answers.

We receive a lovely "thank you" from the Princess Alice Hospice. Click here to see their letter.

Warren would like to sincerely thank Sara, Rowena, Clare, Louise & Tash for their amazing work in putting the event together.
